The Future was today,
speculative spatial strategy
„The Future was today“ is a speculative museological and spatial strategy developed within the framework of the Other Museum research studio conceived by „Cookies“. The concept of „The Future was today“ questions the museum and/or the exhibition as a closed and final format for presenting curated data or knowledge embodied in the selection of objects on display. The Other Museum is an ever-expanding cata- log – a shared and continually growing body of knowledge. It engages in constant conversation and operates as an open platform that can exist in a non-linear time context, meaning that the future can al- ter the present and the present can alter the past through collective exchange. It is only through enabling access to a multiplicity of narratives and positions that the Other Museum can emerge. The museum can take shape in its smallest material entity: as a physical or non-physical space that facilitates interaction bet- ween an exhibited form and its viewer. It is only through exchange that it grows and evolves into a museum, into a space of input-output cycles in constant flux. The museum is a wandering catalog that, as it expands, becomes more and more spatial.
